Sn0wbreeze 2.7.1 Untethered Jailbreak For iOS 4.3.3 And iOS 4.2.8

iH8sn0w has released Sn0wbreeze 2.7.1 for Windows, which includes the fix for side switch vibration issue for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4. Sn0wbreeze 2.7.1 supports an untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3.3 and iOS 4.2.8 for the following devices:
  • iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, Verizon iPhone
  • iPod touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G
  • iPad 1

Sn0wbreeze 2.7.1 doesn't support iPad 2. iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone users who don't care about unlocking are better off using Redsn0w as one doesn't need to preserve baseband like iPhone users.

Direct Download iOS 4.3.3 with “Bug Fix” for Location Tracking

Apple was getting ready to release iOS 4.3.3 to make it possible to clear your cache of location tracking, and to turn off the tracking completely. Now iOS 4.3.3 is available via iTunes for AT&T’s iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPads, and the fourth-gen iPod touch. There is a separate update, iOS 4.2.8, for Verizon’s iPhone. iOS 4.3.3 reduces the size of the location database cache, and stops backing up the cache to iTunes when your device is connected to a computer. It also deletes the cache completely when Location Services are turned off.

Download IOS 4.3.2 now avaiable, fixes FaceTime and 3G Ipad 2

IOS 4.3.2 is now available for download, which has fixes for Facetime, the 3G Verizon Ipad 2 and other Security Issues.
The software fixes several bugs including an issue that could cause blank or frozen video during FaceTime calls and a bug that prevented some international users from connecting to 3G networks on the Pad.
iOS 4.2.7 is available for Verizon iPhone 4, which only addresses sercurity fixes.

Skype bringing video calling to iPhone 4 at CES 2011

Skype has been telling everyone that it'll be making a "series of video-related announcements" at CES next month... and it's participating in a panel called "Video Calling Gets Ready for Primetime," . A leaked tutorial page from the company’s official website has revealed that video-calling will be coming to iOS.
Chances are other major platform will be getting video-calls too (hence the series of announcements). We have to remind you that Maemo and its sole smartphone representative – Nokia N900 already support video-calling through Skype.
Skype runs nicely on all the major mobile operating systems already and it would be pretty great if Skype enabled the new feature to all of them at once.
CES 2010 is only a couple of weeks away.

Apple Pulls Jailbreak Detection API From iOS

Late last week, Network World reported that Apple has quietly removed from iOS an application programming interface (API) that could detect jailbroken devices. The API had been used by several mobile device management applications to help corporate system administrators determine whether jailbroken devices that could pose a risk due to malware installation were running on their networks.
The new API was part of a bundle of mobile device management (MDM) APIs released in June with iOS 4.0. These APIs were available to third-party MDM applications, such as AirWatch or Sybase's Afaria. With the new APIs, these servers could access directly a range of features and information in iOS or on the device. But in the recently-released 4.2 version, the API intended for detecting jailbreaks has been either removed or disabled.

Flash for iPhone Now Available

Adobe's Flash technology is now available for iOS devices, thanks to a new application for jailbroken iPhones and iPads. Coming from Comex, the same man who developed the browser-based JailbreakMe tool, Frash lets iPhone users view Adobe Flash content on their phones.
Frash is in its very early stages, and works with the iPhone 4, 3GS (with iOS4), third-generation iPod Touch, and iPads with the latest software (3.2.X), the developer says. To install Frash, you will also need to jailbreak your device, which can be done easily with the new Web browser-based JailbreakMe tool released last week.
Once you have jailbroken your iOS device and installed Frash ( Install Flash on iPhone 4), you can view Adobe Flash in Mobile Safari. Not all Flash content will work though. Frash is in the early development stages (version 0.02), so only basic Flash animations will display, mainly advertisements. Here's a video showing Frash in action on an iPhone 4.

iPhone 4 Battery Life: The Test Results

Apple's new iPhone 4 boasts a boatload of new features and improvements. One such improvement is increased battery life. Apple claims the new phone can outlast its predecessor by an hour in Internet use, two hours in talk time, and 10 hours of audio playback. Both the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 claim to hold enough juice to play up to 10 hours of video, and can last up to 300 hours in standby mode.

To get an idea of how the iPhone 4's battery life compares to its predecessor in varied use, I borrowed a colleague's year old 32GB iPhone 3GS and tested it and the iPhone 4 using a series of different tasks. The results show that the iPhone 4 does indeed last an appreciably longer time.

Apple iOS 4 review

iPhone 4 launch day came and went and Number Four has taken over. Today, as the dust settles, we hope to move away from the hype and take a clear-headed look at what’s new in the iOS4. No, this isn’t a full-featured iPhone 4 review, nor is it intended to introduce you to the OS basics.
