HTC Ville image leaks, thinnest HTC device run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich phone

According to sources from PocketNow the HTC Ville will be the thinnest device yet from HTC and has some pretty impressive specs too. While we don’t have a quad-core like the recently leaked HTC Edge it should feature a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor and a qHD resolution display. Not any qHD but an AMOLED panel too. Pair that with a 4.3″ screen and an 8 megapixel shooter on the rear it sounds like some of their more recent smartphones.

HTC Runnymede 4.7-inch Android leak Image

Runnymede will reportedly feature a single-core 1.5GHz processor, 768MB RAM and 16GB/32GB ROM, plus WVGA resolution. Sound quality and image capture are said to be top-notch, with the Beats Audio-infused device supposedly offering up a class-leading camera that may even best the highly-anticipated iPhone 5's. Pricing has been tipped at 530 pounds ($838) unlocked for the 16GB model and 560 pounds ($885) for the 32GB version

HTC Desire Gingerbread update available

First off, if you own the North American variant of this handset then you're out of luck. Likewise, Japanese, South Korean and some German handsets are also excluded. Still here? Okay then, but you might not like what comes next. We already knew that either the Sense UI or some pre-installed apps would be cleared out to make room in the Gingerbread house, but now it seems the update is so unstable that HTC is only prepared to release it as a ROM via its developer site. That means a factory reset of your device, a bunch of worries about SMS and MMS not working properly, and a cold disclaimer in the event of things going wrong. Still, at least HTC gave (some of) us the choice. Visit the source link below for deliberately spooky instructions.

HTC EVO Shift 4G Gets Gingerbread 2.3 OTA

A new report is just coming in that the HTC EVO Shift 4G will also be receiving an OTA update on Monday June 20th, but this will be the update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. All you have to do is go to Menu>Settings>System updates>HTC software Update and start the process. In addition to the Gingerbread update, you’ll get improved download management, and fixes for media streaming. If, for some reason, you want to wait for the update to be pushed to you, Sprint will start force-feeding it on Monday.

HTC has 12-megapixel Windows Phone

When Nokia reintroduces itself to the world as a Windows Phone maker later this year, many anticipate that the company will instantly steal the limelight from other Microsoft partners. If HTC has anything to say about it, however, that won’t be the case. HTC looks primed to take a giant leap forward in the megapixel race with a 12-megapixel Windows Phone that can shoot RAW images. Industry insider Eldar Murtazin on Sunday posted an image and preliminary impressions of the unreleased Windows Phone being readied by HTC. The smartphone resembles the HTC Trophy just launched by Verizon Wireless, but the addition of a 12-megapixel camera supplies a point of differentiation that could have photogs drooling in anticipation. HTC has never been known to equip its smartphones with good image sensors and Murtazin says the quality of images taken with the upcoming 12-megapixel offering is just “not bad at all,” but he’s working with pre-release software so let’s hope HTC has some tweaks in store ahead of launch.

If you decide on giving aospCMod a try, it can be found here.

MeeGo 1.1 install on HTC's HD2

HTC’s HD2 has become something of a favorite among smartphone modders; we’ve already seen the Windows Mobile 6.5 device swap its Microsoft OS for Android and Windows Phone 7, and now it’s the turn of MeeGo 1.1. Steve Troughton-Smith spotted that, since the HD2 is relatively similar to the Nexus One in terms of core hardware, Steve followed the  instructions for installing MeeGo on the Googlephone as he'd done previously for the Nexus One.

The renowned designer Antoine Brieux has developed a new concept of HTC HDD. The HTC HDD features a 4.8-inch beast of a device with an unusual 870 x 480 AMOLED display — unusual, that is, until you realize that the extra 70 vertical pixels are reserved for a row of virtual softkeys that change depending on the application.
HTC HDD concept phone also includes 10MB camera with dual LED-flash and the ability to record HD-video with a resolution of 1080p, HDMI, Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with a clock speed of 1.5 GHz, 1 GB of RAM and 4G-support networks. HTC HDD can work on the basis of Android 2.2 or Windows Phone 7. Or even switch between them.

HTC Evo Shift 4G shows off its keyboard (picture)

Evo Shift 4G appears dressed in a protective case – so in reality it’s slimmer, the smartphone’s keyboard has a trackpad (like the first Motorola Droid) and the keys seem a tad flat. The device is pretty much a Sprint 4G version of the G2/Desire Z/Merge. The Evo Shift 4G could be officially announced at CES 2011, on January 9, and it should run Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
