iOS 5 already jailbroken using Limera1n

Everyone’s favorite muscle-bound nerd brought iOS fans great news on Tuesday: iOS 5 has already been jailbroken. The Dev Team’s “MuscleNerd” posted on Twitter that he has successfully jailbroken Apple’s iOS 5 software using Limera1n. Right now his jailbreak is tethered, meaning the device must be connected to a computer each time it is booted, but this version of the jailbreak will never reach consumers so it doesn’t really matter. MuscleNerd says the exploit used to jailbreak the iOS 5 beta will still work on the final release version, so iOS users can sit pretty knowing the latest version of the operating system will likely be jailbroken immediately following its release this fall.

Greenpois0n RC6 Final is out for Mac and Windows user

The newest version of greenpois0n (RC6) might pique your jailbreak interests. It'll perform an untethered jailbreak, freeing your device (iPhone, iPad, Ipod Touch) running 4.2.1 and allow you to fulfill all of your out-of-jail needs. Bundled in this new release is a loader that'll inject nitoTV right onto your little black Apple box. This new greenpois0n is said to fix emulation problems and can be applied right over your device that's been freed with RC5. But proceed with caution -- we're seeing a bunch of jailbreakers on Twitter claiming have ran into issues (WiFi, booting) with RC6. Hit the source link to grab either the Mac or Windows version.

pod2g of the Chronic Dev Team announced the release of greenpois0n for Windows on Twitter:

Windows version of greenpois0n is out !

greenpois0n needs iOS 4.2.1 installed on your iOS device for it to work, so if you need to software unlock your iPhone then you should not upgrade to iOS 4.2.1.

greenpois0n for Windows supports the following iOS iDevices:

* iPad

greenpois0n does not support hactivation, so your iPhone needs to be hactivated via iTunes.

Apple Pulls Jailbreak Detection API From iOS

Late last week, Network World reported that Apple has quietly removed from iOS an application programming interface (API) that could detect jailbroken devices. The API had been used by several mobile device management applications to help corporate system administrators determine whether jailbroken devices that could pose a risk due to malware installation were running on their networks.
The new API was part of a bundle of mobile device management (MDM) APIs released in June with iOS 4.0. These APIs were available to third-party MDM applications, such as AirWatch or Sybase's Afaria. With the new APIs, these servers could access directly a range of features and information in iOS or on the device. But in the recently-released 4.2 version, the API intended for detecting jailbreaks has been either removed or disabled.
