The new set, LG Display claims, demonstrates how AMOLED systems more commonly used in the smaller displays of smartphones can be extended to encompass far bigger panels for televisions.

LG Ally will update to Android 2.2 Froyo in February

Good news for all you LG Ally users, A moderator on the LG Forum has given a certified response that confirms we will be seeing Android 2.2 Froyo on the Ally in February. The next question on the mind of owners of the phone is whether or not the Froyo upgrade will allow them to run Adobe Flash Player 10.1.

With a 600Mhz processor, the LG Ally may come up a bit too short to meet Adobe's hardware requirements for Flash Player 10.1. Based on Adobe's latest requirements, an Android 2.2 device equipped with a WVGA screen must have a processor clocked at 800MHz or higher. Unless some changes are made soon, Ally owners might end up shut out of one of the major applications installed on Froyo flavored handsets.

LG Optimus 7 Runs when the Battery Taken Out

With other devices running different operating systems, pulling the battery while this is being charged and the phone is on instantly cuts the power and the phones will turn off. With the LG Optimus 7 can runs without a battery, pulling the battery while charging will leave the device functioning. There might be an explanation involving electronic schematics: maybe the current doesn't go through the battery and then to the phone but the other way around - maybe also related to Windows Phone 7 being responsible for charging the battery.

LG Star Tegra, picture, Runs Froyo, Has HDMI Port

The Tegra 2-powered LG Star has reappeared in a new spy photo shoot. The device runs Android 2.2 Froyo instead of the expected 2.3 Gingerbread but still managed to outperform the Nexus One.
The Star is running a customized UI on top of Android Froyo. Word is, however, that Gingerbread will take its place by the time the device launches. There's not much on the Tegra 2 specs, like CPU clock speed, but it did beat the Nexus One with Froyo at the Quadrant benchmark.

LG Quantum : Windows Phone 7 with Keyboard on AT&T video review

LG Quantum is the only hardware QWERTY Windows Phone (the Dell Venue Pro is sold by Dell and Microsoft stores but not T-Mobile stores). And that's enough to set it apart in an ecosystem where all Windows phones adhere to Microsoft's minimum specs and are sold at the same $199 price with contract.

LG Fathom review and video

If you're a long time fan of Windows Mobile and are the kind of person who turns off TouchFLO 3D on HTC phones to get back to that classic WinMo experience, the Fathom is your kind of phone. We're not sure how many of you are out there, but we know there are a vocal few. The Fathom features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, Windows Mobile 6.5.3 and the same 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU that powers some of our favorite high end smartphones. The Fathom has a high res 800 x 480 touchscreen, 3G EV-DO Rev. A for Verizon and world GSM roaming capabilities too. Is it sexy? Nope, but it is speedy and stable.

LG eXpo reviews and video

The LG eXpo is the HTC Tilt 2's competitor on AT&T. While the Tilt 2 features HTC's TouchFLO 3D that makes the smartphone much more fun and modern, the eXpo opts for impressive hardware like the 1 GHz Snapdragon CPU, good 5 megapixel autofocus camera, fingerprint reader and optional pico projector. Both sport a very ample slide-out hardware QWERTY keyboard and an 800 x 480 pixel resistive touch screen. The LG is a bit slimmer and more pocketable than the beefy Tilt 2, but it's still a large phone.

LG Ally reviews and video

The LG Ally is the latest Android smartphone to join Verizon's lineup and we suspect it will trounce the similarly designed but more expensive Motorola Devour. Though the LG has fairly high end specs, it doesn't get the Droid designation (we're not sure what's up with that Droid thing). It has a 3.2", 800 x 480 capacitive touchscreen with multi-touch pinch zooming, an accelerometer and Android OS 2.1 Eclair.
