Nexus S overclocked to 1.3 GHz

Senior member of XDA developers, morfic and his team, Team Whiskey or TW as it is being called, isn’t resting just yet as the team has now overclocked the processor to run at 1.3 Ghz. The issue that is yet to be fixed includes the not so important (for some) bluetooth connectivity issue.

- Tweaked voltages

- Further build tweaks

- Overclocked to 1.3GHz

MeeGo 1.1 install on HTC's HD2

HTC’s HD2 has become something of a favorite among smartphone modders; we’ve already seen the Windows Mobile 6.5 device swap its Microsoft OS for Android and Windows Phone 7, and now it’s the turn of MeeGo 1.1. Steve Troughton-Smith spotted that, since the HD2 is relatively similar to the Nexus One in terms of core hardware, Steve followed the  instructions for installing MeeGo on the Googlephone as he'd done previously for the Nexus One.

iPod nano hacked: soon to gain apps, video, calendars, and games?

Developer and hacker James Whelton managed to bypass the device’s cache comparison and install a rather simple Springboard hack that allows for blank space creation — something that’s possible on jailbroken iPhones and iPads. As Whelton notes this is a very simple hack, he found files pertaining to games, apps, video, and calendars within the iPod nano’s file system leading to the conclusion that the nano’s operating system is definitely a hybrid between the old iPod nano operating system and iOS. The core is the old system while the layer on top resembles iOS. The developer says he will be posting more information about the nano “jailbreak” in the next few days so stay tuned.

“Next is the discovery in some of the device’s plists of reference to support of Movies, TV Shows, Apps, Games, vCards, Calender events and so on, with a few other cool things like a passcode lock. With the bypass I figured out, I hope to enable these pretty soon. It seems like the OS is a rehashed version of the previous Nano’s OS.”

Hack Nokia N900 to run Android 2.3 Gingerbread

Nokia’s N900 continues to prove itself a firm favorite with the modding community, now managing to get an Android 2.3 Gingerbread port before Google has even managed the official release for the Nexus One.  It’s primarily the handiwork of Alexey Roslyakov – aka DrunkDebugger – though not everything is fully functional quite yet. Still, cellular data, sound, WiFi and various other things are working, and he’s suggesting that there’ll be a stable build released before the end of the year.
