iPod nano hacked: soon to gain apps, video, calendars, and games?

Developer and hacker James Whelton managed to bypass the device’s cache comparison and install a rather simple Springboard hack that allows for blank space creation — something that’s possible on jailbroken iPhones and iPads. As Whelton notes this is a very simple hack, he found files pertaining to games, apps, video, and calendars within the iPod nano’s file system leading to the conclusion that the nano’s operating system is definitely a hybrid between the old iPod nano operating system and iOS. The core is the old system while the layer on top resembles iOS. The developer says he will be posting more information about the nano “jailbreak” in the next few days so stay tuned.
“Next is the discovery in some of the device’s plists of reference to support of Movies, TV Shows, Apps, Games, vCards, Calender events and so on, with a few other cool things like a passcode lock. With the bypass I figured out, I hope to enable these pretty soon. It seems like the OS is a rehashed version of the previous Nano’s OS.”

TimeCommand - Command your sleep/wake environment with Apple devices

Most docks just play music. That's so vanilla! Pair your iWhatever with the TimeCommand dock and the accompanying app and you can dim your f-ing lamp from your phone. And set lamp-assisted alarms with back-up battery insurance.
If TimeCommand sounds like some futuristic government branch in a dystopian sci-fi movie, well, that's about the level this iPod/iPad/iPhone command station is on, at least compared to others of its ilk.

Phone guitar: iPhone OS, Windows Mobile and Android

What can you do when no one's got a phone to jam with you? Why, you can be a geeky one-man band, of course! Web developer Steffest (just one name, like Sting or Madonna) managed to do just that by strapping a couple of Android devices (possibly an Archos 5 and a HTC Desire), a couple of WinMo handhelds (looks like a HP iPAQ h1940 and a HTC Touch Diamond), and an iPod touch on top of a portable speaker.
