Video review via emulator WebOS 3.0

PreCentral have managed to acquire a leaked copy of HP’s webOS 3.0 beta 1 software development kit (SDK). Why is this a good thing? Because contained within said SDK rests a TouchPad, webOS 3.0 emulator, of course. While emulators only provide 50% of the TouchPad story — the other half being hardware — it is useful to get a high-level overview of what user interface will look like. There’s an eighteen minute video overview (after break). Click to source to view more images.

webOS tablet show of new interface

We have seen webOS interface on the Palm range Pre and Pixi. However, these devices are smartphones with small screens. How webOS will work on HP's Opal and Topaz tablets as well as future touch-only smartphones. The interface on a larger screen will now be split into panels depending on the screen size of the device. A smartphone would only see a single screen, PreCentral found, but larger tablets would see two or three panels, such as a list of messages side-by-side with the message bodies.

[Video] Virtual keyboard on the HP WebOS 2.0

Now that webOS 2.0 devices are out in the wild, turns out it's more than just a reference. Using a Palm Pre 2, WebOS Internals went ahead and dug into the portion of webOS 2.0, entered "VirtualKeyboardEnabled=true" and after a UI restart hit Opt+Sym+K to bring up the software keyboard you see above.
