The GSMA GSM Association Mobile World Congress is the combination of the world's largest exhibition for the mobile industry and a congress featuring prominent Chief Executives representing mobile operators, vendors and content owners from across the world. The event, initially named as GSM World Congress and later renamed as the 3GSM World Congress, is still often referred to as 3GSM.
- In 2007, approximately 55,000 people attended. The GSM Associations - Mobile World Congress takes place at the Fira de Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, in February.
- The 2009 GSM Association Mobile World Congress took place from Monday, February 16, to Thursday, February 19. The first day was dominated by Microsoft-related announcements, such as their increased partnership with LG and demonstrations of their new Windows Mobile 6.5 Operating System.
- Mobile World Congress 2010 was held on February 15, 2010. One of the biggest news stories that came out of the event was the announcement of Microsoft's new revamped mobile operating system, Windows Phone 7.
- MWC 2011 will be held February 14th-17th.

Mobile World Congress 2011 kicks-off tonight (February 13th) with announcements coming from Samsung and Sony Ericsson as they launch their new devices.
- Samsung Unpacked event is launching the Galaxy S 2 and the Galaxy Tab 2. Are we going to be seeing a new flagship Wave device tonight?
- Sony Ericsson publicly teased the PlayStation phone, the Xperia Play. What else will compliment its fight-back in 2011? Will it surprise us with a hitherto unmentioned device?
- LG, flashing its Optimus Pad and Optimus 3D, LG literally can’t wait to share the Optimus love in Barcelona. Will 3D really work on a mobile device?
- ZTE and Huawei are here, what will they have in store, will we see breakthrough devices from them this year?
- Motorola hit CES 2011 in a big way, will we see anything new from it? Perhaps playtime with a fully operational Honeycomb Motorola Xoom will be exciting enough.
- HTC has seen meteoric growth over the past 2 years. Does it have the momentum to keep it up?
- What impact will the Nokia and Microsoft venture have?
- Will BlackBerry confirm its leaked roadmap? Will it pin down the details on its PlayBook?
