Asus will fix Transformer Prime ICS 'lockups' in February

A number of Transformer Prime owners are experiencing random lockups on their devices following the recent Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update. Gary Key, an Asus technical marketing manager, has confirmed that the company "hope[s] to have a fix available in early February." The issues follow no clear trend, and 400 replies at XDA Developers suggests that it's reasonably widespread. We saw no evidence of lockups during our week-long preview of Android 4.0 on the Transformer Prime, so we're unable to comment directly on the issues, but users have reported lockups in high performance mode, browsing, and randomly during daily use.

Asus has also identified an issue with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth fallout, involving signal degradation using a Wi-Fi network to stream media to a Bluetooth device, that it hopes to fix early next month. The company previously announced the release of an unlock in the same month for the encrypted Prime bootloader, allowing owners to load custom ROMs, so we'll keep you informed of the exact timing for each February fix.
