Apple today announced it has sold three million new iPad since its launch on Friday, March 16. This is a feat even for Apple, as it breaks the record for iPads sold and of course shatters any records any other tablet PC devices have had in the past as well. The first iPad sold somewhere around 300,000 units in its first weekend of sales and 3 million after 80 days.
“The new iPad is a blockbuster with three million sold―the strongest iPad launch yet,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “Customers are loving the incredible new features of iPad, including the stunning Retina display, and we can't wait to get it into the hands of even more customers around the world this Friday.”
